Re:sound S prestige
Four long-throw bass chasses, a low-distortion mid-range speaker
and a tweeter with a large fabric membrane are responsible
for providing the precise sound quality of the slim Re:sound S prestige 02.
As a standalone stereo speaker, it leaves the rest behind. In the surround system, it is truly a revelation. The decades of experience in the Revox development department have flowed into these speakers. Four long-throw bass chassis with Aramid fibre membranes and a particularly powerful drive have been developed to provide an exceptionally precise and powerful bass reproduction. Also the midrange speaker that almost completely prevents sound distortion is a masterpiece of the engineer's art. A 30 mm fabric calotte is deployed as the tweeter that produces high tones of incredible, silky clarity.
The optimised crossover network guarantees a sound that is harmonically true. The resonances produced by the housing are effectively suppressed over the complete frequency range.
Revox is also going for a rear-facing bass reflex vent for this speaker and for a very good reason:
A bass reflex vent with forward-directed emissions, inevitably produces air noise. This is caused by turbulence at the ends of the tube. The air noise is relatively high-frequency, which makes it audible in front of the speaker. A further disturbing factor is the fact that you can "hear into" the inside of the housing through this bass reflex vent. Also, a physical, unavoidable standing wave defined by the build-length of the bass reflex vent, produces undesired additional frequency components.
